This photo won FIRST PRIZE in the annual digital photo contest sponsored by Integrity Graphics, inc. It is reminiscent of one of April's favorite painters, Edward Hopper. April describes the moment..."I took the picture in mid July of last year at Seaside Heights, the campiest of New Jersey's boardwalks. It was dusk, about 9 pm. We were walking to our car when the drinks caught my eye. My teenage children saw me getting ready to take one last shot and pleaded "don't take a picture", don't draw attention. I thought about it, but I am beyond feeling silly about taking pictures as people nearby say to themselves...."what could she be taking a picture of?" And voilah.....the winning shot! |

April Aldighieri's work combines classic photography with a painterly handeling of computer filters, transporting the often nostalgic subjects into the 21st century. This photo has a strange effect with the background in black & white, as if the background figures don't want any part of the vibrant colored fish they are selling. |

This
still-life is a good example of April Aldighieri's approach
~ Here, the mix of color and black & white April often creates with filters is a natural fact of the still life she arranged. |
